One of every six students at the Clark County School District are English Language Learner students. One in four students in 3rd grade are ELL, so the trends indicate growth to come. Yet Nevada is not funding an ELL program.
The debate is always about revenue. Should the interests of maintaining low taxes take priority over preparing the next generation to compete in a global economy?
There is also talk of a lawsuit regarding the inequities of education funding in this state that results from students not receiving adequate and equal education opportunities. One way or another, we will pay… either for the education, the law suits, and/or the sub-par education in our population.
