Health fair draws 13,000 people as deadline approaches

The deadline to sign up for health insurance through the Nevada Health Exchange is just two days away, but the number of sign ups is expected to jump quite a bit after Saturday’s health fair at Cashman Center.

As of Friday, only 33,000 people had signed up for plans, with 22,000 having paid for them; that’s still short of the state’s 50,000 goal.

Organizers said more than 13,000 people came through the doors on Saturday and several thousand walked away with a plan, but it wasn't an easy feat.
