Daily Snippet: Nevada has one of the highest percentages of uninsured people in the United States, with over 1 in 5 not having any coverage, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau. That’s over half a million people.
Work is being done to change this poor outcome. Nevada has chosen to participate in the new health insurance exchange program and Medicaid Expansion, both programs designed to help more people get access to affordable health care options.
The Nevada Health Link will begin enrolling people into affordable health insurance plans in just 3 months, though you can sign up toget information now by visiting their website here.
Some people will not qualify to participate in the exchange program due to various reasons like immigration status. A non-profit option is available to them as well outside the exchange. That group is called the Nevada Health CO-OP. There plan will also be available on the exchange.
