Ramirez Group Supports President Obama’s Executive Actions
President Visits Las Vegas Today to Detail New Policy
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Ramirez Group strongly supports President Barack Obama’s announcement yesterday to take executive action on immigration reform.
Our company has long supported the President’s constitutional right to use executive action to provide relief for the millions of undocumented immigrants Congress has ignored with their obstinate refusal to pass a bill fixing our broken immigration system.
As Nevada’s only Hispanic-owned, woman-owned full-service public relations firm, we recognize the impact this will have on the Latino and immigrant communities both in our state and across the country.
Thousands of families have established their roots in America, longing to pursue the same dreams as our immigrant forefathers. Many of these families have been torn apart by unjust deportations. Hundreds of law-abiding and tax-paying immigrants – and even children – languish in detention centers. Millions have spent decades working and living in America as Americans, but without legal status.
Meanwhile, for nearly two years, the U.S. House of Representatives has failed to act. Despite a comprehensive bill passed by the Senate with widespread, bipartisan support, Speaker Boehner has denied his colleagues the opportunity to tackle immigration reform.
The President’s executive actions will finally give immigrants a path – not to citizenship or even legal residency – but to get in line for jobs, driver’s licenses and deferrals of deportations. This will be a boon to our economy and preserve our country’s great history of rewarding those who seek freedom.
Though the President’s actions do not provide a long-term or permanent solution to the larger problem, we recognize these steps will help alleviate the plight of undocumented immigrants in America. It’s up to Congress now to pass a bill and fix the broken immigration system.
We are excited to welcome President Obama to Las Vegas today and look forward to hearing him further detail how his executive actions will help our community.
